SERVICE OF REMEMBRANCE
RETIRING COLLECTION

MILITARY REHABILITATION CENTRE

‘THE YORKSHIRE CHALLENGE’
“Rotarians helping to build a brighter future for the young servicemen and women who have given so much”

A Retiring Collection was held to help fund Individual Recovery Plans (IRPs) for
military personnel from the army, RAF and Royal Navy, who have been wounded, or become sick, while on active service – mainly in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Help for Heroes has committed £80million to build the Personnel Recovery
Centres (PRCs) in Catterick, Colchester, Tidworth and Plymouth – and has also funded the 'Pathfinder Centre' in conjunction with Erskine Scotland in Edinburgh. The MoD has committed £35million over ten years, while The Royal British
Legion will fund the day-to-day running costs of the centres, which is £50million over ten years.

After the initial hospitalisation, the IRPs aim to provide all the necessary support to ensure that each patient returns to normal life as soon as possible.

While the new facility – due to open in October 2012 – is under construction, an interim facility has opened at Catterick to take 30 patients.

Rotary in Yorkshire has pledged to support the IRPs initiative by raising funds
for those based at Catterick. We are working with ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, who are co-ordinating the support from the MoD, Royal British Legion,
Help for Heroes and the other service charities.
